Iconic legends like Connie Sawyer and Dolores O'Riordian passed away. Dolores just after reuniting with the Cranberries.

So many were lost to issues of mental health and suicide, like Mark Salling and Anthony Bourdain.

Some died tragically in drug-related or violence-related deaths, like Mac Miller and XXXTentacion.

A beloved president of the country, George H.W. Bush, was lost soon after the loss of his wife Barbara Bush. Another loved a politician, John McCain lost a long battle to brain cancer.

One of these people moulded our childhoods, and that's Stephen Hillenberg, the creator of Spongebob.

Another singing legend to whom we paid tribute, is Aretha Franklin, queen of soul. Speaking of kings and queens, the father of the king of pop Michael Jackson, Joe Jackson, was also lost this year.

Pioneer in science, Stephen Hawking, and pioneer in fashion, Hubert de Givenchy, was also lost.

Famed actor Scott Wilson, and unique individual Zombie Boy are also among those we miss.
